Bolton Wander To Defeat Against Resilient Aston Villa

After a run of three games without a goal Aston Villa were relieved to be up against a team ravaged by injuries and suspensions with the worst defensive record in the league.

With Villa's reputation for dour football and grinding out draws there may have been a few punters backing Bolton to gain their first draw of the campaign and give Owen Coyles men a well earned point in the process.
Alas it was not to be and Owen Coyle looks to be facing a battle to restore confidence to a team that appeared lacking in ideas and invention whilst being woeful at the back.
Villa have not mustered that many shots on target this season but they could easily have scored 5 or 6 against Bolton and Darren Bent on another day would have been leaving with the matchball in his bag.
For all Villa's first half dominance they still looked quite nervous at times so the first goal was a major boost for the players confidence and acted as a springboard for some good performances from Villa wingers for the first time since messr's Downing and Young were wearing claret and blue.
It was great to see Albrighton flying down the wing and causing havoc in the Bolton defence but in fairness he will probably not come up against a worse left back than Robinson.
It was a similar situation on the other wing with N'Zogbia putting in a good shift while Agbonlahor also caused quite a few problems for the Bolton defence who played a dangerous game with a high backline against the pacey Villa forwards.
The second half saw Bolton coming out with a bit more fight and Klasnic hooked in a scrappy goal from a Bolton corner in the 55th minute.
Villa fans were fully expecting a backs to the wall defence with Bolton laying siege to the Villa goal but their attacking threat never really materialised and Villa eased themselves to 3 precious points without too much fuss.
The attractive football didn't quite flow from Aston Villa at Bolton but there were some promising signs for optimism. The talent is there at Villa Park and it may just be a matter of finding the right formula to unleash it. The loyal Villains discontent in the manager is growing and many do not believe McLeish is the man to resurrect this once great club to its former glories.
Confidence is a big thing in professional football and a 2-1 win away from home is always welcome despite the lacklustre opposition. It remains to be seen if this game can kick start Villa's season especially with the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal their next opponents.

Bolton Wandered to defeat against a resilient Aston Villa side who showed improvements in their attacking intent but there is still a lot more to come from this still under confident Villa side.
