The thriving Kuala Lumpur Arts scene is fuelled by the burning creative passion of KL's gifted artisans displaying their talents in various theatres, galleries and craft markets located in and around the greater Kuala Lumpur conurbation.
The Kuala Lumpur Arts environment encompasses many events including the plethora of cultural and heritage occasions that take place annually in this harmonious and colourful multi racial city.

Kuala Lumpur Museums

Kuala Lumpur Arts

The National Museum located on Mahameru Highway is a great place to explore the many artefacts and paintings collected over many years throughout the country.
Kuala Lumpur is also host to the Islamic Arts Museum where thousands of Islamic artefacts including some very rare exhibits from all over Asia and the Middle East can be viewed in this recently opened museum.

Kuala Lumpur Art Galleries

The National Art Gallery serves as a centre of excellence and trustee of the national art heritage and is located next door to the National Theatre and National Library on Jalan Temerloh.
An easily accessible Kuala Lumpur art gallery located in the City Centre displaying some of the finest art in SE Asia is the Petronas Art Gallery in KLCC (beneath Petronas Twin Towers).

KL Artisans

The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre is a well established centre for showcasing theatre, music, and film screening; it is notable for being a supporter of local independent performance artists and is located in Sentul West, KL.
Another fine establishment of artisans in KLCC is the world renowned Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra who perform in the Petronas Philharmonic Hall.
KL Handicrafts
One fantastic location I adore in Kuala Lumpur is The Central Market located on Jalan Hang Kasturi, very close to Petaling Street.
Central Market celebrates all the Traditional Festivals of each race in Kuala Lumpur and Malaysian Traditional Cultural and Arts events are performed at the Central Market Outdoor Stage for many of these festivals.
For over a century Royal Selangor has been a bastion of KL handicrafts and a world renowned pewter manufacturer of royal repute, within its factory it also houses a visitor centre and an interesting pewter museum.
This is a Craft and Arts market is famous for displaying Malaysian handicrafts products such as, art, kebaya, songket and batik goods that are representative of all the Ethnic groups in KL.
