Fun Facts About Brinchang
Brinchang is the second largest town (after Tanah Rata) in Cameron Highlands. Brinchang holds a popular night market every weekend and during school holidays.
Having visited the Equatorial hotel Penang my expectations were high and I was really looking
forward to my stay at the most popular highlands area in Malaysia.
While the highlands area did not disappoint the same
cannot be said about the Cameron Highlands branch of
the Equatorial Hotel chain.
Every sense I had was telling me this was an average 3
star hostelry living off the deserved reputation of its
sibling hotels elsewhere in Malaysia.
The lobby area had a certain
presence about it without it
giving the impact that you
would anticipate from a
branded 4 star hotel.
The rooms at the Equatorial Hotel Cameron Highlands
could be described as barely adequate as a 4 star
establishment but would be considered a good fit if
viewed and priced as a 3 star hotel.
I stayed in a superior room and as I said previously the
room was clean but there were signs of neglect, as for
example the mould around the tile edge behind the
bathroom sink.
I tried the nasi lemak for breakfast and its bland taste
lacked punch in the sambal and the subtle coconut rice
was very average to say the least.
The Equatorial Hotel brand comes with the expectation of a 5 star experience but the Equatorial Cameron Highlands did not reach the standards I expected when compared to its namesake hotels in Penang or Melaka.

The rooms were clean, the
sheets were crisp and the
staff were all welcoming
without going that bit extra
to really serve their paying
clientele.
So why was I so
disappointed?
When I arrived i could see
the mock Tudor facade was
just too garish in its
attempt to reproduce period
British architecture and it
just looked a poor
representation of this classic
architectural style.
