Spy Malaysia Travel Review
The Pahang shopping scene that gets the attention of both locals and tourists alike is centred around the capital city of Kuantan with its up to date shopping malls mixed with more traditional handicraft centres it offers the best choice for shoppers not just in Pahang but also for the whole east coast of Peninsula Malaysia.
In April 2008 Pahang shopping received a boost with the opening of the East Coast Mall in Putra Square, Kuantan.
The Kuantan Parade located in Jalan Mahkota is anchored by 'The Store' who sell a wide variety of merchandise from household goods to clothes, food, fresh fruit and vegetables, stationery, gifts and other general goods.

The other Pahang shopping experiences of note in Kuantan are Kuantan Plaza, Mydin, Kamdar and Giant Hypermarket.
The Teruntum Complex is the oldest shopping complex in Kuantan and has gone through many upgrades constantly reinventing itself and still to this day enjoys a regular returning customer base happy with the outlets and goods on sale here.
The Berjaya Megamall on Jalan Tun Ismail in Kuantan had been the king of Kuantan shopping malls until the arrival of ECM and although it is one decade older than its new 'East Coast' rival it is still very popular with the locals.
With Parkson and Carrefour as anchor tenants occupying the left and right wings of the East Coast Mall (ECM) it has given confidence for a lot of fashionable shops regularly seen in Kuala Lumpur malls to take the plunge and open (quite successfully) outlets here.
Taking the name East Coast Mall was a brilliant marketing move because once opened it became the largest shopping mall on the east coast and has been attracting regular consumers from as far away as Kelantan and Terengganu.

Pahang Shopping

Tanah Rata Cameron Highlands
When visiting Cameron Highlands a popular stop off is Tanah Rata, the town is geared towards the tourism sector so there is a dearth of large chain stores.
Tanah Rata shopping comprises two rows of shoplots on the main road through town. You can find all basic goods that you need but you don't really visit Cameron to see big malls as the outdoor environment is the big attraction here.
