Manhattan Fishy Facts
There are now 19 Manhattan Fish Market outlets operating in Malaysia. The Manhattan Fish Market is actually a Malaysian franchise with outlets now operating in Singapore, Thailand, Oman, Sri Lanka and Indonesia.
My 3 year old son did well to eat his way through nearly all his kiddies meal which was quite a feat for him and a culinary thumbs up to the chef as his mini fish and chips were actually very good.
The Salmon Catch Of The Day was my wifes choice and she chose the salmon to be nestled on a bed of garlic herb rice adorned with a tasty creamy sauce. The accompanying vegetables were fresh and crunchy and her overall opinion of this dish was quite satisfactory.
The Manhattan Seafood Platter also served some delightful deep fried Calamari although I was less endeared to the Oysters as the gustatory sensation just did not register on the culinary scale of gorgeous seafood dishes I had already tasted.
Still on the Manhattan Flaming Seafood Platter; The two pieces of battered Dory were adorned with tartare sauce making them a very enjoyable fish dish that tasted fresh from the oceans depths.
The Manhattan Flaming Seafood Platter is served on a bed of Garlic and Herb Rice with Chips accompanied by a good portion of fresh Broccoli and Carrots.
The effect was as entertaining as the delightful flaming prawns actually tasted and I can understand why this is touted as the Manhattan Fish Market signature dish because the taste was simply scrumptious.
The waiter serving the Manhattan Flaming Seafood Platter approached our table with intent armed with a gas powered blow torch and in a display more akin to theatre than culinary guile proceeded to set fire to the aptly named 'Manhattan Blazing Prawns'.
I was glad there were two of us sharing the Manhattan Flaming Seafood Platter as I definitely did not have the will nor the capacity to devour this huge skillet full of delightful seafood.
The Mushroom Soup was fairly mundane and did little to inspire our salivating tastebuds but the Seafood Chowder was very tasty with a seafood essence that was very moreish.
Both the soups arrived first closely followed by the Garden Salad with Italian Dressing.
Cream Mushroom Soup (light) - RM4.90
Seafood Chowder (regular) - RM7.90
Garden Salad (Italian Dressing) - RM9.90
Salmon Catch Of The Day (light) - RM21.90
Manhattan Flaming Seafood Platter - RM52.90
Fishing Net (Kids Fish and Chips) - RM8.90
So it was about time I put their seafood prowess to the test at the Queensbay branch of Manhattan Fish Market in Penang.
The Manhattan Fish Market restaurant chain has already proven its credentials in leading the way when it comes to satisfying the demand of the casual seafood diner with franchise after franchise rolling out across Asia.
Fast forward 180 years and a popular seafood franchise has emerged from the murky depths of Davy Jones Locker to satisfy the pelagic demand of the modern day fish feasting consumers of Malaysia.

Sea Food Platter Manhattan Style
There were three adults and one hungry 3 year old to feed so after scanning the menu we quickly decided and this is what we ordered:
Manhattan Fish Market Flaming Sea Food Platter
Manhattan Fish Market Fish and Chips
Manhattan Garden Salad
Manhattan Sea Food Chowder
Cream Mushroom Soup
The Garden Salad was exactly that and it added a crunchy freshness with the added Italian zing from the agreeable dressing.
