Seoul Garden Restaurant, Barbeque Steamboat At Gurney Plaza Penang
Seoul Garden Barbecue is a Gurney Plaza Restaurant that offers an amazing variety of Korean cuisine in its all you can eat buffet menu.
I am definitely of the opinion that if I visit a restaurant and pay for my meal I want the restaurant to cook it for me. My wife however has the opposite view as she and most of her circle of friends all love this style of dining experience so I know my view is the minority.

At this type of restaurant I always take a large plate of fresh fruit before I totally gorge myself on all the yummy savoury flavours on offer. This needs discipline as passing by the tasty variety of marinates is difficult when you still have not tasted all the available dishes. But later in the day, it does soothe my bellys' fraught conscience after the over eating meat frenzy that tempts everyone to over indulge at an 'all you can eat'.
On the steamboat side there are a large variety of vegetables that add nutritional balance to the meat feast that seemed to dominate my pangs of hunger.
The other choices of marinate include Sze Chuan, Tom Yam, Char Siew, Teriyaki, Garlic and the temptingly named Coffee flavour that introduced me to an interesting way to taste chicken. The Coffee Chicken was an acceptably different taste of cooked chicken that will appeal to many diners.

The black pepper beef also delivered a pleasant taste and I especially enjoyed this when mixed with grilled onions.
I would also recommend the curried fish for a nice taste although this did have one drawback which was it falling apart when trying to turn it on the grill. # Tip; It is better to place this fish in an area of the grill that has accumulated some oil as it is then easier to handle.
The curry chicken was much more flavoursome and was my personal favourite of all the marinated meats and although it never struck me as a Korean dish it was a very good curry flavour.
The Bulgogi beef was quite tender to eat and it had a piquant flavour that was more subtle than over powering. It had a nice taste that registered a pleasant satisfaction rather than achieving any gastronomical high.

With this in mind a plate of Bulgogi beef was my first choice occupying half of the grill space with a Korean style curried chicken taking up the remaining portion.
My personal exposure to Korean cuisine has been quite limited so I was looking forward to a culinary trip through the tastes of typical Korean dishes.
The impressive range of meats have all been marinated in various different sauces giving the hungry diner plenty of options so there will be something to tempt even the most discerning palate.

The cost was RM26.99 per person for the buffet and RM3.99 per person for the free flow soft drinks.
As it is an all you can eat buffet you pay before you eat so it helps to fast for a few hours before dining here to really get your moneys worth.
Seoul Garden Restaurant Barbecue Steamboat
Restoran Seoul Garden in Gurney Plaza Penang is an all you can eat Korean style buffet restaurant where the diners choose from the vast range of different raw foods on offer before returning to their tables to cook it themselves.
There is a large enough selection of seafood on offer including prawns, shells, clams, squid, scallop and crab to keep the serious pelagic cuisine aficionados more than happy.
One thing that still puzzles my old fashioned mind is the popularity of restaurants where the paying diner has to cook his own food. I have commented before (on Johnny's Steamboat Restaurant) on the social bonding this dining experience gives and I believe this is an important factor in the 'where to dine' decision making process that people make when selecting restaurants.
For the sweet of tooth there are many flavours of ice cream and a plethora of sweet desserts that would be enough to put a smile on any dentists face.
The choice is quite vast when you consider the dim sum options available as well as the noodles and seafood on offer at Seoul Garden restaurant.
