Siam Express restaurant in Queensbay Mall serves a Thai fast food menu that is more cuisine orientated than fast food sped to your table for modern world convenience.
Both desserts were despatched before I could get a spoon near to them although I was reassured by my fellow diners I did not miss much, hmmm, taking advantage of my good nature I think!
The Kids Rice Set was only half eaten and then in more of a fit of pique than any culinary disharmony my 3 year old son decided to upend the plate to send the remaining contents speeding to the floor.
The Basil Chicken Rice and Omelette with Onion both tasted very ordinary and I would struggle to find any superlatives to describe them.
I am not particularly fond of Kangkung Belacan in any restaurant so I left this alone to my fellow diners who swiftly cleared the plate and informed me it was very good, hmmm, maybe I'm missing something here.
I tried a couple of pieces of the Stir Fried Basil Chicken but although it tasted ok I felt a bit underwhelmed as I thought the chicken would be much more flavoursome.
The Steamed Fish with Lime and Chilli came with a wonderful sweet and spicy sauce that actually surprised me because it tasted more cuisine orientated than fast food sped to your table for modern world convenience.
I have always liked a few spoons of Kerabu Mango Salad as I like the heat from the chillis mixed with the Cashew nuts and Mango but I am happy to share this dish as I never get the urge to finish the whole plate.
Before I finished my plate of Green Curry I decided to add some Tom Yum soup to the rice and mix it up with the Thai curry to see what effect it gave. The resultant taste was quite good but I cannot see too many chefs clambering over themselves experimenting on a new dish from this idea.
So, with so much nice looking food on offer I had to resist the temptation to overload my plate with green curry and was left with the faint hope there would be some left for me later; Not a chance though as this got devoured by everyone within 5 minutes of arriving at our table.
With just one taste of the delectable green curry I suddenly realised why I like to come back to Siam Express; They serve the best Thai Green Curry in Queensbay Mall, it is much more tastier than the same dish offered in Johnny's Restaurant.
The Siam Express Tom Yum delivered a nice taste that pleasantly caressed my palate, however its lasting impression on me was it was good but I have tasted much better.
The family set consisted of Thai Green Curry, Kerabu Mango Salad, Kangkung Belacan, Seafood Tom Yum, Lime and Chilli Steamed Fish and 2 desserts.
I arrived late to meet our group and my wife had already ordered and quite rapidly bowl after bowl of tasty looking Thai food was being served to our table.

Siam Express - Our Food Bill (for 6 people)
On this occasion there were six of us dining including my small son and I was armed with my camera prepared to disseminate the Thai fast food experience in Siam Express Restaurant.
Siam Express Map Location
I've dined at restoran Siam Express on a few occasions previously but I never had my camera with me so I never got around to writing a review about the place. My wife really likes eating here and my view has always been consistently ranging from a quite good to good dining experience so I had no worries about returning.
When comparing Thai restaurants in Malaysia Siam Express can stand tall as a Thai fast food outlet but when it comes to the crème de la crème of Thai food that honour has to go to the only restaurant in Malaysia I have ever awarded 5 stars to: Restoran Chef Chareon Thai in Selangor as its understated cuisine is simply stunning.

Siam Express Mango Salad is good but I think Johnny's Restaurant version is slightly better.
We all laughed and my wife commented that it was a culinary statement the chef should ponder for the next time we visit :-)
