Penang Entertainment

Penang cinemas have been busy bringing the latest experience in Cinema viewing with the technology to watch movies in 3D at various venues such as Golden Screen Cinemas Queensbay Mall and Gurney Plaza.
There are more Penang cinemas available for viewing all the new movie releases with the Cathay Cineplex at Prangin Mall in Georgetown and the Lotus Five Stars Big Cinemas at the Bukit Jambul shopping complex in Bayan Lepas.
The Penang entertainment scene also hits the beach with a variety of different water and beach sports available at Batu Ferringhi and if you have the energy for it you can meander up one of the many Hiking trails on the Hillsides and National Parks of Penang.
On the Heritage trail there are various daily guided tours and shows occurring at different times throughout the year to help keep the intrepid tourist enthused and looking for their next fix of Culture.
During festivals times such as The Hungry Ghost Month there are many seemingly impromptu public theatres erected in various parts of Penang displaying all sorts of cultural and heritage shows that are open for public viewing, this example is just the tip of a multi-cultural iceberg as there are many many more.

Penang offers many options for ten pin bowling enthusiasts with BJ Bowl at the Bukit Jambul Complex being the largest with 40 lanes for the serious bowler.
The other bowling lanes on the island are Top Bowl at Sunshine Square and Jaya Bowl at Midlands Park on Jalan Burma.
While on the subject of bowling, 2010 saw the Penang Durian Masters Bowling Tournament whereby anybody who could score 7 consecutive strikes received a durian and anyone scoring a perfect game received 300kg of Durian.
The interesting event also had some hefty cash prizes and took place in June at the height of the Durian season.
Penang is also home to a plethora of extremely popular karaoke bars with outlets like Red Box Karaoke in Gurney Plaza taking karaoke to the next level with their state of the art karaoke rooms.
The latest addition to the Penang karaoke scene is the Neway Karaoke outlet in Queensbay Mall and is Neways' first venture into the Penang karaoke market.
Georgetown is home to many very popular Karaoke lounges, but one that really stands out is The De Shang Nite KTV located opposite the Traders Hotel.

In the centre of Georgetown on Lebuh Farquhar is the popular Penang Bowl but be warned this is often fully booked because it only has 16 lanes.
The De Shang Nite KTV is quite difficult to miss at night time due to its dazzling display of neon encouraging the songbirds of Penang to enter and sing their hearts out.
