Best Penang Shopping Malls

Well as all Penangites know the shopaholic generation has arrived in Penang with a vengeance and they really know how to shop. From the branded outlets of the largest shopping Mall Gurney Plaza to the night market stalls of Batu Ferringhi you are spoilt for choice with the vast array of goods for sale.
Just North of Georgetown is Midlands One Stop Mall and Island Plaza. Georgetown is also home to another new Penang Mall with the opening of Times Square leaving the visitor to Georgetown with a plethora of shopping options to satisfy the most fastidious of tastes.
There are various other shopping malls dotted about the island including Bukit Jambul Complex, Sunshine Square and Penang Plaza. Mainland Penang offers the following shopping malls; Aeon Seberang Prai City, Sunway Carnival Mall and Mega Mall.

Batu Ferringhi has its famous Sidewalk Bazaar Nightmarket that has become a tourist attraction in itself, here you can bargain with the stall holders that sell handicrafts, souvenirs, gifts, T shirts, bags.......etc.
On the last Sunday of every month there is the must see Little Penang Street Market selling arts and crafts.
As for achieving the most complete shopping experience, Penang has much to offer the serious shopper.

There is live entertainment, galleries and various activities so this is a well worthwhile place to visit.
All the stall holders are vetted and checks are made on an ongoing basis as all products must be hand made in Malaysia and related to Heritage or Tradition with at least 70% Malaysian materials.
This is the Petaling Street of Penang and some great bargains can be purchased amidst what is becoming a great Penang shopping experience.
Whether you are bargain hunting in the August or new year sales or looking for that perfect gift for a loved one, even the most discerning of shoppers tastes can be satisfied in this spenders paradise that is Penang.
Night markets are very popular in Penang and they occur every night of the week in various locations across the island.
The night markets (pasar malam) sell local goods and tend to serve the local communities. There are also many hawker stalls with some selling some delightful local food such as nasi lemak and char kuey teow.
Gurney Plaza is a great place to start any Penang Shopping trip and with a host of international brand name stores this is one Penang Mall that would not look out of place in Bukit Bintang.
In Bayan Lepas there is Queensbay Mall which is the longest Shopping Mall in Penang.
My wife loves Prangin Mall because of the multitude of ladies shoe shops there and I think I am not the only husband to be taken from shop to shop trying the latest fashionable shoe design.
Prangin Mall has another near neighbour with the recently opened lifestyle mall 1st Avenue targeting the young executive types aged between 20 and 35.
Gurney Plaza is located on the prime real estate sea front location of Gurney Drive. It consists of nine storeys of retail space boasting 300+ retail outlets.

In Georgetown Pacific Komtar has had a makeover and is a lot brighter than its previous incarnation, however, it's near neighbour Prangin Mall is still a very popular Penang shopping destination for both locals and tourists alike.
1st Avenue offers seven floors of retail therapy for the young fashionistas and the chic Penang crowd.
