Why is Penang such a popular travel destination I sometimes hear the locals say, well as a person who heralds from elsewhere and settled here many years ago I initially did all the Penang tourism spots available on this wonderful island that is now my home and I loved them.
Penang pines for no-one, but once bitten by Penang you will pine for Penang for a lifetime
The Peranakan Mansion is a museum highlighting the opulence of successful Baba-Nyonya families of a bygone era
The Unesco award winning Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion located on Leith Street in the heart of Georgetown is a tourist favourite on the heritage trail
The Christian Cemetery in Georgetown could be considered an odd selection for the savvy tourist, but it is the final resting place of many famous dignitaries with Penang connections
Kek Lok Si Temple is another must see on the Penang tourist trail
So what are you waiting for?
Penang is a truly captivating location for tourists to visit for so many different reasons, from the Georgetown heritage trail to the beaches or the hillsides and even the floral and fauna. The stories about the fantastic food within the cafes and restaurants is legendary and to cap it all there is some tremendous nightlife to be found in and around Penang.
I feel a sense of pride in having the opportunity to write about some of the enchanting Penang tourist attractions and I enthusiastically look forward to revisiting them all to record, review and photograph them in all their sublime glory.
There are various beaches and other assorted not so well known places of interest, some isolated, that can be accessed with a bit of exploring and maybe the help of some local knowledge.
Places such as the National Park, Muka Head, Monkey Beach and Kerachut Beach in the north of the island are well worthy of any discerning tourists presence.
Penang tourism has so much to offer the intrepid tourist and I'm sure many wonderful places get overlooked due to a lack of marketing and promotion.
Make the most of the best Penang Beaches like Monkey Beach, Kerachut Beach and Bakar Kapor Beach
