Spy Malaysia Travel Review
The Sabah Sport and Leisure activities available are every adrenalin junkies dream come true.
Their name is TYK Adventure tours (check out their website) www.tykadventuretours.com and they really delve right inside the inner inaccessible regions of deepest darkest Borneo.
If you are serious aficionados of extreme sports and you have not yet been to Sabah then you have just found your next holiday destination to satisfy your every adrenalin pumping desires.
On the way to Kudat be sure to stop off at one of Borneos' most beautiful beaches Kelambu Beach. After admiring the beauty of the surroundings of Kelambu Beach you can then participate in a plethora of water sports including speed boating, water skiing, swimming, and snorkelling.
Serious mountaineers can head to Mount Trus Madi located in the Trus Madi Forest Reserve as it towers some 2, 642 meters above sea level making it the second highest peak in Sabah, it is also considered a more difficult ascent than the relatively easy Mount Kinabalu.
The Padas River White Water Rafting adventure is a more challenging grade 4 river and covering a distance of 30km it is the longest white water rafting experience in Sabah.
The Kiulu River White Water Rafting at Kampung Pukak Kiulu is a Sabah sport activity for the more adventurous.
The KK adventure park located at Kampung Beringgis, Kinarut has enough activities to satisfy the most active of adrenaline junkies. Visitors can enjoy quad biking, riding on the beach buggies, bungee trampolines, high rope challenges, kayaking, doing the flying fox, wall climbing, taking the high ropes course challenge, giant chess, miniature golfing, as well as participating in a tresure hunt.
TYK are here again offering an exhilarating ride downstream until you disembark to experience a 10 minute walk through primary rain forest before arriving at a picturesque waterfall and the hot spring.
The Poring Hot Springs north of Ranau are famous because they are so easily accessible but there is another hot spring south of the town that is only accessible by raft.
During this adventure you will get to see the biggest mud volcano in Sabah while you merrily pedal through the natural beauty of the forest listening to the sounds of the varied wildlife.
TYK also offer the Tabin Iron Horse Challenge whereby you stay for 3 days and 2 nights during the Tabin Wildlife Mountain Biking Adventure that courses through the Tabin Wildlife Reserve which is the biggest wildlife reserve in Malaysia.
Sabah is criss crossed by many paths and tracks and one historical track that is being followed is the Sandakan-Ranau Death Marches path whereby for 4 days enthusiastic cyclists can follow the Sandakan prisoner of war track for 100 km.
A Via Ferrata is a fixed mountain route consisting of fixed steel ropes, stemples, ladders and bridges that is assembled to ascend difficult mountainous terrain.
The Via Ferrata gives you the opportunity to experience the thrills and spills of mountaineering in a controlled environment alongside skilled trainers and it is suited to experienced climbers and novices who are physically fit.
I do not normally promote individual companies on the introduction pages because usual protocol on this website is to leave that to individual reviews on subsequent pages, however, there is one company that offers adventure tours for extreme sports enthusiasts in Sabah that is too irresistible not to mention.

With Borneo being the third largest island in the world combined with its rugged mountainous terrain, forests and tropical rainfall it is little wonder that all the natural ingredients required to provide the backdrop for extreme Sabah sport activities are in place and being utilised to the full in the land below the wind.

Sabah Sports And Leisure

It is a perfect way to take in the beauty of the Sabah jungles while reminiscing about the cruel demise of the POW's during world war 2.
The highest Via Ferrata in the world has been verified by the Guinness book of records to be at 3,800 metres on Mount Kinabalu in Sabah.
TYK are also responsible for the Rugading Adventure Tour which includes an overnight stay in the jungle and lessons in jungle survival, it also combines mountain biking and trekking.
Located about 1 hour drive from Kota Kinabalu the rapids are a grade 2 moderate adventure lasting between 7km and 15km depending on water levels.
