Passing by Restoran Bumbu Bali in Bandar Puteri Puchong on Saturday I noticed people queueing up for a table so I had a scan of the Balinese cuisine menu and decided to take my wife there the following night for a Mothers Day treat.
What a difference 10 metres makes, on Saturday I dined next door and although the food was great the service was lousy.
The menu at Bumbu Bali is so appetizing it is difficult to know where to start but eventually we chose the following:
Restoran Bumbu Bali, Puchong
Our Food Bill

Sop Buntut (Oxtail Soup) - RM14.00
•
Balinese Grilled Squid Salad - RM15.00
•
Grilled Salmon Steak - RM33.00
•
Nasi Campur Beef - RM33.00
•
Nasi Kambing Bumbu - RM28.00
•
Chicken and Chips - RM26.00
•
Pisang Bakar (Grilled Banana, Ice Cream) - RM13.00
The Oxtail Soup was a hearty dish brimming with vegetables, rice cubes and meat floating in a rich beef broth that really impressed as an authentic Indonesian soup.
The Balinese Grilled Squid Salad was supposed to be an appetiser but it was the size of a fully fledged main course complete with delightful spicy lemongrass and shallot dressing and complimented by three wonderful anchovy crackers.
The Nasi Kambung Bumbu was my personal favourite as it was stir fried to perfection with a wonderful array of tasty Indonesian style spices, everyone got in on the act with this dish and it was wiped out within minutes of arriving on our table.
The Nasi Campur not only delivered great taste it also delivered exceptional value with some tasty Fish, Squid, Beef Redang and a Bean Salad all tantalising the appetite with an exquisite aroma that was hard to ignore.
Adding further gastronomic pleasure were the Sambel Terasi, Sambel Mateh and crunchy Anchovy Crackers that increased the options of achieving the ultimate taste sensation.
Next up was the Salmon that was steeped in an authentic Balinese Lemongrass Marinate before being grilled to a sizzling golden brown colour that guaranteed any hungry diner would be drooling in anticipation of a culinary feast, we were not to be disappointed as it tasted fantastic.
One of our party ordered some western food with a fairly ordinary looking chicken and chips adding nothing worthy of any culinary comment; When in Bali........sigh!
I'm not a great fan of desserts but I had to try the Pisang Bakar as it totally unhinged my normally reluctant stance on such sugar rich dishes.
Mixing the banana with the ice cream delivered a nice blend of sweet tastes but the sweet sauce proved a little over bearing to me so I opted to let the others polish this dessert off.
The two drinks worthy of comment were the Lemongrass Mojito that delivered a wonderful blend of sweet lemongrass and mint to the appreciative palate and the Hazelnut Latte that transported the aromatic Java beans into a smooth and aromatic coffee.
Experiencing the warm Balinese style hospitality in Bumbu Bali Restaurant is a precursor to delighting on the fragrant aromatic delicacies of their Balinese fusion menu.

The same cannot be said about the staff at Bumbu Bali as they were very polite, courteously patient and greeted us with a broad smile every time they addressed our table.
It consisted of grilled caramelized banana, vanilla ice cream, shavings of coconut sitting in a coconut milk and sugary sauce and topped off with some peanut candy.
