Spy Malaysia Travel Review
After receiving another hot dining tip I ventured into Bandar Peteri Puchong to dine at Restoran Bibi Wok who specialise in Nyonya Thai cuisine on the ground floor and their first floor is dedicated to Thai BBQ and Steamboat.
We opted for the Nyonya Thai menu so were seated downstairs and began to study the menu. Within seconds a waitress descended on us asking for our order and I had not even got past the second page on the menu.
She kept going away only to come back 20 seconds later asking for our order whereby I would politely say 'not ready yet'.
Eventually we ordered and within 30 seconds there was a basket of Tidbits and 3 tissues in plastic bags thrust onto our table.
I normally tell them to take them away on principle but this time I let it ride, I wanted to see if they put them on the bill at the end, and yes, they were there illustrating a bad practice that I have found less common recently.
Anyway, I talk enough about the bad service, here is the list of yummy food we ordered plus the hidden extras we did not order:

Restoran Bibi Wok, Puchong
Our Food Bill

3xTissue - RM00.90
Tidbits - RM03.00
2xPlain Rice - RM04.00
Siakap Thai Kerabu Mango - RM38.00
Curry Assam Fish Combo - RM36.00
Roast Duck Kerabu Mango - RM18.00
Beef Rendang - RM18.00
The Snow Beans and Smoked Duck were really tasty and actually complimented each other very well. The beans had a buttery taste with an essence of the smoked duck in every bite and the savoury smoked duck meat was just totally munchable.
I am handicapped every time I order Beef Redang as my wife cooks this to absolute perfection and I am always comparing.
Another portion of duck was up next but this time it was roasted and served with Kerabu Mango.
The Pineapple Fried Rice was presented on a banana leaf in a hollowed out pineapple and it tasted refreshingly good.
Every mouthful of the fish combo would introduce an initial coconut taste followed by a fishy taste and it ended with a zingy lime astringency that kept me going back for one more spoonful, it was a good interesting taste sensation.
Dining in Bandar Puteri Puchong in the busy Restoran Bibi Wok on their Nyonya Thai cuisine gives you an insight into a restaurant serving great food without the great service to back it up.
The Curry Assam Fish Combo came with a healthy assortment of seafood and a very nice taste to the sauce.

Then there was the Barramundi that was much more suited to the Thai Kerabu and Mango sauce than the duck.

Snow Bean With Smoked Duck
The waitress never asked if we wanted them and we never ordered them, but, I know this trick is to put them on the bill regardless of whether you wanted them.
Barramundi Kerabu Mango
Not a good reflection on any restaurant.

Bibi Woks' beef redang was actually very good and as my wife is still in Penang dare I say it? Ha Ha, no Bibi Woks' version was good, but not that good (I'm safe to go back home now;-).
The duck was cooked well enough but it seemed to lack that little something to make it really special, the Kerabu and Mango sauce was quite tasty but I felt it didn't quite suit this dish.
The rice had a very smooth texture and it mixed well with all the dishes we ordered.
This fish was deep fried and it was a highly enjoyable culinary culmination to the evenings meal.
